The Most Important Job We’ve Ever Done

To say that 2020 has been a challenging year so far would be an understatement. The wide spread floods in February saw our teams helping hundreds of people with total devastation to homes and lives, but no one could predict what was to come in March.

On Wednesday 11th March, a global pandemic was confirmed by the World Health Organisation, and then the drastic changes to our society began.

Schools cancelled, people told to work from home, life as we know it changing. But the frontline, Our NHS, continued to support those most in need.

Whilst those heroes were doing the incredible work we have all seen over the last few weeks, there have been many other incredible people helping in the background to create more beds for the hospitals to support the NHS.

Rainbow International Morecambe was approached by our local hospital, Royal Lancaster Infirmary, to clean the refurbed previously unused buildings in the hospital grounds to create Lancaster’s Nightingale Hospital. We jumped at the chance of helping the NHS and also our local community offering large teams and whatever support we could.

From being approached at the end of the day on the 29thMarch, we had quoted, been authorised and had our teams with them on 2nd April, working daily until the 9th, and then continuing on the 14th April and completing the works on the 17th.

This was not a small job, but has been the most rewarding we have ever done.

Our superheroes, our team, have tirelessly cleaned ward after ward to create more beds for those with COVID-19. Not only did they do this they also cleaned a ward in the main hospital building, finishing this a week before predicted. Because of this, they have helped ease the pressure at the hospital, again helping those most in need.

We are very proud of the work our teams have done. We are not those on the frontline like the doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers, but we are honoured to have been able to help to facilitate their relentless fight against COVID-19.
